I had a dead MacBook Air 2009 so needed one of these to recover the data from the LIF connected SSD.
I bought two as they are so cheap (shipping cost more) and I'm bound to get another dead MacBook Air eventually!
It allowed me to recover the files immediately and now I use the SSD with the enclosure as an OS X installer disk.
