Additional power required for USB3 HDD writing.

It would have been useful to be told that extra power via a 4 pin SIL connector was needed for most large hard disk drives, particularly if two are attached. It is not made clear when purchasing.
A heads-up would have been appreciated so that the correct PSU splitter/break-out lead could have been purchased at the same time (they are cheap enough but you need to know that you need one).
USB sticks and smaller accessories don't need the power lead though.
It's an excellent product. I'm very happy with it.

Some USB 3 cards only work with additional power, which might not be available in smaller desktops and servers. this one works fine with usb keys and desktop HDDs, in a low profile Dell server using only PCI connection. Doesn't need additional power connection to card unless you're using portable HDDs.

This card allows me to make use of an open PCiE slot at the bottom of the motherboard - and is small enough that it doesn't interfere with the air intakes on the lower graphics card (of a Crossfired pair). A couple more USB3.0 ports are handy to have (populated already) and ... it works! So far, so good.

Using this HS USB 3.0 device has given a significant improvement to my video capture device with 30 fps and no dropped frames. Most impressive !!!
