In RunCore's pursuit of the ultimate solid state drive (SSD) upgrade, a full new line of SSD products have been developed, boosting computer performance 5x to 40x. The RunCore Pro IV SSDs provide speed increases in startup, application launch, multitasking between programs, opening/rendering/saving large files, and shutdown. The RunCore PRO IV SSD also offers silent operation, longer battery life, heat reduction, reliability, and durability making it the perfect solution for all applications.

The revolutionary new SSD design not only boosts your sustained performance but it also focuses on random small file Read and Write speeds, the speeds that create bottle necks in current and past PATA, SATA HDDs, and some SSDs. With Operating system and application consisting of thousands of small files, the RunCore Pro IV SSD can process these files at nearly 10X write and 50X read while creating a more efficient and satisfying user experience.

The Pro IV 70mm miniPCIe SATA SSD has become an ideal choice for the storage media of the ultra mobile PC. With its small footprint and industry-standard design, the format of miniPCIe SSD is ideal for embedded solid state storage because it allows for high capacity and high performance while ensuring compatibility in ultra-mobile application.

The product is compliant with SATA protocol and as standard miniPCIe SSD installed all major OS such as Windows 9X/Me/NT/XP/CE/Vista/Windows7, MAC, Linux and Unix. The miniPCIe SSD adopts advanced flash controller and NAND flash, contains the cache size of up to 64MB. It supports the capacity from 32G to 128G, the highest read rate reaches 258MB/s.

Life in the old dog yet

Had tried a SuperTalent SSD for my EEE901, but after initially installing XP from the recovery disc OK, Service Host errors soon appeared and the machine became unusable. Returned the SSD to MemoryC by RMA, who checked it out as OK, and reckoned it must have been a software incompatibility. Bought this Runcore SSD instead. It works fine and my little EEE901 now has a new lease of life. The original SSD in the EEE901 was always too small for the operating system.

Not a good setup experience

Installed the SSD, the (previously updated) bios picked it up. Got through to the Windows XP setup, it detected the SSD and I was able to delete the partition, create a new partition, and then it failed on the format.

I took the SSD out of the EEE, put it into the enclosure and formatted it fine as NTFS on a Win 7 computer. Then, out of the enclosure, back into the EEE and tried to setup Win XP leaving the current (now blank) NTFS partition intact. Started copying setup files fine, got to about 96% and start getting 'could not copy' errors and it failed the setup. Couldn't start the setup again as the drive was suddenly unrecognisable, in the BIOS and to the XP setup.

I settled for cloning Win XP from my old 4gb SSD and it booted up fine once copied across.

I'm now going to clone a fresh install of XP to see if I notice any speed increases.

So far, my experience of this drive isn't great. I'm wishing I went for the slightly more expensive Super Talent drive to save myself this hassle.

Great, but expected faster

In general I'm glad with this purchase, it is incredibly much faster than default 16G Asus's SSD in my EEEPC 900. But it is not so fast as specified in description. I tested it in HD Tune and it shows just 120MB/sec read. The write tests I was unable to run in HD Tune.
At the same time this SSD is even visually faster than HDD on my another computer. In any case now my EEEPC 900 is live and much more useful!

I think this simple comparison made with Crystal Disk Mark will say it all. Simply awesome! Btw, this is on an Asus 901 (absolutely no issues recognizing it with latest BIOS):

not recognised by Asus EEEPC 900A WinXP 8G ssd
January 16th 2012 Verified user
Doesn't show in bios even with bios 1102 - even though requirement states BIOS rev 0703 or newer. Searching forums seems to suggest there are variations in the 900A. The country of release, drive configuration and OS may be the problem. successful owners seemed to be owners of 4Gig and 4Gig plus 8Gig combo units - most relate to Linux and European bios. Cannot find any concrete details !

Doesn't Work on EEEPC 1000
November 27th 2011 Verified user
This unit did not work on the EEEPC 1000. I have had the same poor experience as others with this product.

This could be a manufacturing fault as I returned the first unit to memoryC but the replacement unit has the same fault. Avoid this product until such time as the batch is replaced and the new batch has been tested by users.
