Seems OK so far
I have a 15" Macbook Pro from March 2008 (pre-unibody)
It has an ExpressCard slot, whereas the Unibody model has an SD card reader instead.
The Wintec 96GB ExpressCard having a write speed of 30 MB/s, I was tempted to try to use it as boot and system partition for my Mac. I heard about overheat issues from previous models, like the 48 GB version, but it should have been fixed.
So far no problems, it has cut the time my Macbook boots to just over 20 seconds. Before it was over a minute.
I have also upgraded from 2 to 4 GB ram memory, and installed a new 500 GB drive internally (was 250GB). I am not done sorting out all the files yet, but my 2 year old MBP has had a serious mid-life update.
For some odd reason, the card I was sent has a label on it which says "ENGINEERING SAMPLE ONLY", but I contacted the manufacturer and we agreed that as long as I have full warranty, I was happy to keep it anyway.
On the condition that it keeps working fine, I should recommend this product to other users. This user purchased this item from us.

Superb product
The product arrived very well wrapped. I took it out and after formating it ... surprise: it is INCREDIBLY FAST. I put on it all the shared data between Linux and Windows and just inflated my free space on the HDD. It is suited for fast transfers so no worries if you want to install Linux on it. The USB connection is pretty useful, too - I can transfer now files to a computer that does not have ExpressPort too. I strongly recommend this product: it is expensive, but the price pays off.

What Not to do running a “Hybrid” configuration
If you are running a “Hybrid” configuration (ExpressCard Ultra SSD and traditional hard drive in tandem), DO NOT move any of my page file/swap file/Virtual memory, Windows Temp folder, and internet browser cache to the SSD (ExpressCard Ultra SSD).
While you CAN move these items to the SSD, they will not necessarily make your system run faster. In fact, in many cases they can make your system run slower. This is true for all SSDs. This is due to the number of random writes made to these system and program folders. We recommend that you leave these folders on your traditional hard drive, or disable them, as noted in the answer to: “How do I optimize my operating system for my SSD?”

How to maximize your everyday system performance by using th
In addition to using the ExpressCard Ultra SSD as general high-speed portable file storage as you would a USB thumbdrive,
you can keep your original laptop or desktop hard drive, and add an ExpressCard Ultra SSD to create an efficient, high-performance “Hybrid” configuration.
By putting your “Documents and Settings”, and program files on your ExpressCard Ultra SSD drive, you will increase the overall performance of your system.
At the same time, you won’t have to sacrifice the existing hard drive capacity that is already inside your laptop.

Note:
If you migrate your laptop’s “Documents and Settings” onto the ExpressCard Ultra SSD, the host laptop will not be able to boot without the ExpressCard Ultra SSD installed.

Disappointed
the product is very good, but I'm disappointed that I can not use this product to install my operating system that does not support boot

ExpressCard does support boot and it is bootable
In order for the ExpressCard to boot, your system BIOS must register ExpressCard Reader as a bootable option. Today most notebook system on the market their BIOS only support up to USB boot level.
Its up to the notebook manufacture to release new BIOS update to include the ExpressCard in the boot option.
If your notebook is able to see the ExpressCard in the BIOS then you can boot from it.
It is not the ExpressCard’s fault that cannot boot it’s your system BIOS not recognize your ExpressCard Reader as Removable Disk under the Boot Option. SSD can have many form factor just keep in mind they are Disk Drive and all Disk Drives are Bootable
